We spoke with the owner of a 1999-built Comfortina 42 that recently underwent a teak deck refit at our yard.
Why did you decide to refit your deck?
“In 2020, we purchased our Comfortina 42. After many wonderful years of sailing, we began to notice that the teak deck was showing signs of wear and was ready for a refit.”
Why KM Yachtbuilders?
“Through my work, I was already familiar with KM Yachtbuilders. So when we were moored in Makkum, I decided to stop by the yard. Douwe provided us with expert advice on the different options for refurbishing the teak deck, and in December the yacht was brought inside for the refit.”
How was the experience working with the yard?
“From the very beginning, communication with the yard was excellent. We visited several times to follow the progress. It was truly impressive to see the level of dedication and craftsmanship the carpenters brought to the project.”
Did you get involved in the work yourself?
“What we particularly appreciated was being welcome to carry out some maintenance work on our yacht ourselves while she was inside the shed. This allowed us to make the most of the winter period, and when the new season started, the boat was fully ready to sail.”
How did it feel to sail after the refit?
“Last summer, we cruised along the North French coast — beautiful harbours, sweeping views, and an unforgettable journey. Along the way, we received countless compliments on our teak deck; some people even thought it was brand new.”
