Makkum, 14 November 2024 – Exciting news from KM Yachtbuilders! A stunning 71-foot carbon hull, designed by the renowned Bill Tripp, is currently under construction at Paul Dijkstra Composites. This cutting-edge yacht will make its way to our yard in Makkum in spring 2025, where we’ll bring it to life with our craftsmanship.
Why carbon? This lightweight yet ultra-strong material ensures unmatched sailing performance, combining speed, power, and elegance. It’s the perfect match for this groundbreaking design!

Arrival at KM Yachtbuilders
The 71ft carbon sailing yacht, designed by Tripp Design with the lightweight carbon structure built by Paul Dijkstra Composites, arrived at our shipyard in Makkum, NL for full outfitting, electric systems, interior, painting and rigging.

Outfitting Hall
The 71-foot fossil fuel-free pilothouse ketch by Bill Tripp Design has entered the Outfitting Hall.
Battery frame & Interior progress
Construction of the battery frame in the technical space is underway, a key element of this fully clean-powered 71ft ketch, while interior furniture is in its final phase, prepared for system pre-installation.

White primer has been applied
A white primer coat has now been applied — not the final colour yet, but an important control layer that helps perfect the surface before the final finish. Once the superstructure is placed onto the hull, preparations for the final paint finish will begin.
Interior is taking shape
Below deck, the interior is rapidly taking shape. In the aft section of the yacht, the owner’s cabin and a guest cabin are currently being fitted out, both with their own ensuite toilet and shower facilities.
