In over 25 years we have seen, built and rebuilt many boats. All of them are engraved in our memory, but the first one is obviously very special to us – The Bestevaer 50 Vrijheid. The very first Bestevaer which was built from A to Z at KM Yachtbuilders.
The Bestevaer 50 Freedom is an impressive yacht designed by Dykstra Naval Architect and can rightfully be called an icon. The yacht is the perfect combination of classic elegance and modern functionality. The shallow keel with hydraulic centerboard and separate, deep-going rudder behind a narrow skeg ensure smooth sailing.
The owner has chosen a comfortable interior to match the classic exterior, with the classic lines enhanced by the use of wood/epoxy. In the starboard cabin, the sofa has been replaced by two comfortable Chesterfields, and air conditioning ensures that the yacht stays pleasant in all temperatures.
The yacht is easy to sail, thanks to hydraulic control of the furling boom, jib rollers and winches and a retractable bow thruster. The fold-out boarding platform in the starboard side of the hull is the icing on the cake. This allows you to get to and from the yacht in no time!
Not to mention the yacht’s name: ‘De Vrijheid’. An homage to the Captain Rob comics by Pieter Kuhn, of which the owner is a big fan. We can’t help but say that this yacht is a fantastic combination of craftsmanship and design. A real gem on the water!
