The Stadtship Oester is a practical ocean cruiser, designed by Van de Stadt Design with a lot of input by the yard and the experienced owner, who is an engineer. The ‘Oester’ features a lift keel and two lifting rudders. This allows the owner and his crew to safely cross oceans, without being excluded from visiting estuaries and other shallow waters of just 80 cm deep. Drying out is a simple and safe activity with this yacht.
The deck layout is designed for ease of handling by a short-handed crew. The sails can be set from the cockpit.
The Hoyt Jib Boom allows the owner to tack without effort and without losing speed.
The owner had high demands regarding functionality, which is notable throughout the yacht. A few examples: An integrated step to get on board easily from a low pontoon. A third rudder behind the propeller to enhance manoeuvrability in narrow harbours. A practical way to stow away the dinghy, etc.
